Recommended travel dates, suggestions, and considerations. Feel free to adjust based on individual travel plans.

Overview

  • Guests should plan to fly into Florence

  • A private shuttle will be available to transport guests:

    • From Florence to Montevarchi on May 21

    • To and from the vineyard tour on May 22

    • To and from the wedding on May 23

    • From Montevarchi to Florence on May 25

  • You or a member of your group should consider renting a car if…

    • Your accommodations are outside Montevarchi city center

    • You plan to arrive or depart Montevarchi early

    • You will be traveling to Montevarchi from somewhere other than Florence

    • You will be traveling from Montevarchi to somewhere other than Florence

Flights

  • Florence (FLR) is the nearest major airport to Montevarchi, which is where we will spend the majority of the week

    • Other airports within Italy may offer cheaper flights, but will require taking a train or renting a car upon arrival

  • A shuttle will be available to transport guests between Florence and Montevarchi

    • Shuttle to Montevarchi: Be in Florence by 2pm Wednesday, May 21 at the latest

    • Shuttle back to Florence: 9am pickup on Sunday, May 25 with FLR airport drop-off around 11am

  • Guests arriving late or traveling from within Europe are welcome to arrange their own travel and meet us directly in Montevarchi

  • Bear in mind that flight arrivals and departures can take longer than usual when traveling internationally

Shuttle

A shuttle will be available for the following:

  • Florence to Montevarchi

  • Vineyard tour

    • Pickup: 12 noon Thursday, May 22 at your hotel/villa

    • Drop-off: 4pm at hotels/villas

  • Wedding night

    • Pickup: 1:30pm Friday, May 23 at hotels/villas

    • Return trips: Midnight, 1am, and 2am

  • Montevarchi to Florence

    • Pickup: 9am Sunday, May 25 at hotels/villas

    • Drop-offs: 10:45am at Florence airport and city center

Rental Cars

Please be aware that Montevarchi is very remote. You will not be able to rely on taxis or Ubers.

Although not required, each travel group should consider renting a car for things like:

  • Exploring the nearby area

    • There are 7 UNESCO World Heritage sites within a 90 minutes of Montevarchi!

  • Groceries and dining out

    • Many hotels include complimentary breakfast

    • Lunch and dinner will be arranged every day except Wednesday, May 21

  • Quick trips to/from La Selva Giardino del Belvedere (main property)

  • Late arrival or early departure

Trains

Last but not least, keep in mind that ItaliaRail is an easy and affordable way to travel throughout Italy.

This is an excellent option for anyone interested in exploring other areas of Italy before or after the wedding festivities.

In many cases, combining the train with flights to Pisa, Rome, or other cities may be cheaper than flying directly into Florence.
